Typesetter
Typesetter
You've got a printing press... with only the letter "A". Can you complete your printing press starting from only the first letter of the alphabet?
Typesetter is a typing game that turns the traditional idle game genre on its head, taking the idling out of idle games.
The default font for the game can be somewhat difficult to read. On the main menu and in the pause menu, we've included an option to switch fonts to something that's more readable and dyslexia-friendly.
Due to some issues on the technical side, if you are using Safari, we recommend that you either use the downloadable version or play the web version in Chrome or Firefox. Additionally, some web versions may take a long time to load. Please be patient, it will load eventually.
Note: If the challenges are too difficult, you can extend the timers by buying more upgrades, and if you want to tune difficulty further, there's a slider in the pause menu (accessed with escape).
Objective:
Keep typing until you've collected enough keys and upgrades to finish the final typing challenge - "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog".
Tools:
Godot 4.1
Autodesk Sketchbook
MuseScore 4

a mute button would be nice given it opens in a embed
how come sometimes the challenges are doable and sometimes theyre impossible?
I've always found typing random words to be relaxing and like idle games, and I enjoy this game! lots of calm fun~~
it cant even save i lost all my progress😭but its actually really relaxing
Good game!
I just fully completed this amazing game and would like to congratulate its creators for making such an awesome experience that tests both tool management and typing skill. Thank you to all who were involved in this game!!
now the speed of the challenges is way to fast? i did all of them before no problem now they're like impossible?
it all of the sudden wont let me scroll now on my upgrading of the letters,
Hola, promising game. Load of critical feedback available, have at ye! 😁

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH AND HAVE NO IDEA WHY. I blinked and 3 hours had gone by. So relaxing and satisfying. Bravo.
One of those games that is utterly perfect for people like me who like questioning sanity
this game is so fun, i couldn't stop playing until i cleared all the challenges lol great work!
This is the greatest "thanks, I hate it" game I've ever seen. I cleared every challenge, and you really put my typing speed to the test. My only feedback would be to have the challenge timer start when the first letter is typed so I have time to get my hand from the mouse to the keyboard. If you plan to lower the difficulty for other commenters, I would recommend including a preset with the original settings, cuz this was a blast. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go ice my fingers
I came here to say this - I wish I could start the challenges with the keyboard! Lovely game otherwise, had a blast playing it :)
I really really like it! I think it fits the theme well. My only nitpick is that hitting <Escape> on the pause menu doesn't resume. Well done!
I think everybody loves a typing challenge. Very nice execution!
The short time for the challenges will leave a lot of people -me included- dusted though.
Did the Godot 4 web build just work for you? I used Godot 3 because 4 threw some errors when trying to upload to itch in earlier testing.
We weren't able to get Godot Web working for Safari, but all other browsers and platforms should work, if a bit slowly.
hi! i think this game is super fun and i really love the concept! as a lot of people have pointed out, the challenge section is pretty difficult, but i did notice you mentioned you'd worked on it.
this is a minor critique, but i'm not dyslexic and even for me the font was a little hard to read. if you're going to keep working on the game i'd love to see an option to access the dyslexic-friendly font from the main game!
all in all, love the game! it's super fun :)
i bought a bunch more upgrades and now the challenge section is way easier, actually! great idea to add in a way to make those easier :)
I think there should be a "Switch Font" button on the main menu and in the pause menu? That should switch the font to something a bit more readable.
omg, i never even tried to pause the game!! sorry about that :|
The pause between typing a word and reading the next one doesn't feel good. I think the game would flow a lot better if you could see the current word and the next word. Then there wouldn't be that jarring pause of trying to read it as quickly as possible.
The challenges were pretty easy (I usually type ~120wpm), except for the Lorem Ipsum one. I figured out that it's a lot easier if I change the font. It might be fun to show people their wpm, and maybe show the wpm requirement on the Challenges screen?
the challenges are brutal
Thanks for letting us know! We've increased the time available for challenges.
thank god lmao
Decent game! The challenges are too unforgiving for me to do, though.
Thanks! We've also increased the time available for challenges in our latest build.
